First 100Km

Hi All,

When I have now ridden 100Km on my A-Bike.
After checking the trip distance to work
I found that the trip is 6Km each way.

The rear tire is showing a bit of wear.
I'm not worried though as new tires
always seem to wear fastest when new.
If I extrapolate from a 26inch tire
lasting 3000Km I think the A-bike tire should last about 700Km.

Did you use a cycle computer?

I have not found one of those that will with with wheels as small as the A-Bike. I had an electric scooter a while back and intended to use a cycle computer for accurate battery readings so i knew how far I could go but none of them allowed for small wheels.

All the trip computers ive seen let you set the wheel diameter, but only within a small range.

Has anybody else found this problem?

I do not have a cyclecomputer on my A-Bike.
I measured my commute distance with my touring
bike which does have one and then just multiplied that
distance by the number of days I have ridden the
A-Bike to work. I have also done some other
trips with people who had computers on their bike.

So the 100Km is only an estimate,
but I think a fairly accurate one (probably within 10Km).
If anything, I have probably covered more distance,
because I do lots of small trips that I have not taken into
account.

I think my VDO digital wireless computer on my other bike will
go to a wheel size of 3 inches (I have to check and confirm this),
but I'm not sure how to attach the magnet.

I will check out the specs on the VDO and post back to this thread.

Hi All,

I just checked the documentation on my cyclecomputer.
The model is VDO CD2-DS and the minimum wheel size in 3.9 inches.
It also has a wireless range of 150cm, which is more
than most wireless models, and is enough to cover
the distance between the handlebars and the front wheel.

So the only problem remaining is to attach the magnet
and sensor to the bike.

I don't have my A-Bike yet, but I use the tiny Garmin 101 Forerunner GPS unit with their optional bike mount on my other bikes and love it.
