I rode my A-Bike outside for the 1st time, and couldn't make it more than a few feet without being completely exhausted!

I am not out of shape...I don't think. Would loosening the chain tension make it easier to pedal? As-is, I cannot ride it. I carried it back home.

I think this was because the tyres were not inflated to the correct pressure (90psi) before you rode your A-bike.

On a normal bike, Motor or push, as the cycle gets used the chain stretches and in order to keep the chain and gears at the right tension the wheel is loosened and the wheel brought back until this is achieved then the wheel is then tightened.

As the A-Bike has an enclosed gear box with the gears and chains enclosed then the only way to tighten the drive due to stretching is to adjust the rear with the Low, Med and high mechanism. I suspect this is on a cam which is off centre so tension is applied that way.
