CO2 pump and a A-bike?

Postby korgpost on Thu Oct 09, 2008 12:30 pm

Has any one used a CO2 pump with the A-bike? They are so small that they would be handy to bring with you all the time, and the tiny tubes would probably be filled many times with one single container. And they are supposed to give quite high pressures too. Could they fill the tube too much maybe?

Anyone with any experiences with this?

I don't know how easy the CO2 pump is to regulate, but, because of the A-bike inner tube's small volume, the tube is easy to inflate quickly. Maybe the CO2 pump would overinflate it too quickly! The main thing, though, is the mechanism for removing the pump really needs to be as per the A-bike pump or a shock pump (i.e. little pressure is lost), because the biggest problem is that the tube just as easily deflates far too much when removing any more ordinary pump. On a large diameter tube the lost air is only a small proportion of the pressure, but on a 6" tube it could easily be half or more! Pointless effort!
