how to get the left-hand bolt out of A-bike plus.

Postby 1llya on Tue Aug 26, 2008 1:04 pm

Hi

I got my A-bike plus 2 weeks ago and met some pros and cons.
Pros is of course gaining time, Cons is the bad assembling with inferior bolts.
My biggest problem is the fact that I cannot get the left-hand bolt outwards. The bolt turns and I can disconnect it from the wheel but it doesnot move along.
Since I already experienced 2 punctures I really need a hint what I should do as it is quit
difficult to get the rearwheel out to fix the puncture.

Thanks for your help

Hello :)
Oooops sorry, I'm too late :(

The inventor Alexander teaches you through this video

And following my experience, you can release the big bolts easily 8)
1. unfold your A-bike
2. lay it down
3. grip a brake lever to fix the tyre << this is my tip!!
4. rotate the bolt with a spanner

Whoa horsey, big problem on the rear wheel instructions in the manual for the Plus. They got it completely wrong. The left-hand bolt is on the left side of the wheel, where the brake band is, and is not marked red. I figured it out because i also have the original A-bike, and was wise enough to compare before trying to turn anything. Once i was sure which way to turn, it was still very hard to get the LH bolt to turn. I had already loosened the RH one, so I was doubly sure that indeed the LH bolt is on the left side with the brake. I had to have a friend clamp down hard on the brake while i actually hammered (carefully!!) the 13mm spanner. It would not give so I used a little WD-40, waited a while and tried again over and over. Last try, says I, and it finally gave way.
Please if you know who to tell, get the manual changed. There are going to be a lot of people out there very frustrated turning the wrong way.

You are saying that the rear axle has a bolt on the left side of the bike which has a left handed thread?

Someone made an effort to get it right though:
On my a-bike there's a dab of red paint on the brake band on the rear wheel.
That is on the left hand side, and that bolt has left hand thread.
It all would have made perfect sense if that bolt was marked with red paint.

Unfortunately the bolt marked with paint is on the right hand side (chain side), although this is a normal bolt (right hand thread).
So instead of just leaving you in the dark, you actually get signposted in the wrong direction!

And as you mentioned; the user manual is wrong in stating that the left hand thread bolt is on the right hand side of the bike. It is right in mentioning that this bolt is marked with red paint, but that only makes things more confusing.
